At the grocery store

A little exchange at the grocery store...

We are at the checkout line and the checkout lady says to Scarlett "Hi cutie, how are you?"
Scarlett : "Look at my pretty dress!"
Checkout lady: "Why yes, it is beautiful. How old are you?"
Scarlett: "I two" (holding up her hand in a crazy disfigured position trying to show her two fingers, but not very successfully)
Checkout lady: "Well, you are a BIG girl!"
Scarlett: "Yes. I wear panties."

Easter Egg Hunt

We had a MOMS club Easter egg hunt this morning. All the kids were adorable...it was 2 and under so I had one of the biggest kids there! Scarlett caught on immediately to the whole egg thing and while the one year olds were strolling around Scarlett took advantage of the situation and packed her basket full. Once she figured out there were treats in the eggs, she stopped collecting and sat down and ate and ate her treats. The host Joy was super smart and stuffed them with goldfish, teddy grahams and fruit loops. There were a select few with candy in them.

After the egg hunt the kids retired to the playroom.
This one might be my favorite picture!!

How cute is THIS?

Onesie to dress in about 30 minutes. And it would have been faster if I hadn't gotten all fancy with the different colored trim and rick rack!
In love with it!! I will definitely be doing more of these for baby sister. How easy and comfy and not to mention CUTE!! Oh, and $4 for the onesie at Target and free fabric scraps from my leftovers drawer...cheap!!

Here's the tutorial if you want to give it a try too!

Storyland - take one million

So we went to Storyland again today. Scarlett loves it. She gets very excited and talks about "Storytime". Tonight I asked her what she saw today and she said "Gators, boat, big truck, Belle Beast song..." As always she was also quite taken with Snow White. She kept kneeling beside her talking about how she ate the apple and went to sleep.

Here's a few pictures from today

Squinty smile on her favorite lamb that she always has to rideI thought this face was hilarious. This is the look she was giving all the boys in the park today. There was a PreK 4 class there on a field trip and she was NOT a fan of those big boys taking up spots in all her favorite attractions. She kept walking away from stuff and telling me "there's BOYS there".

Driving the firetruck. She thought this was AWESOME. Back at home. She actually asked me for the ponytail after I put Ariel barbie's hair in a pony tail. It lasted all of 20 minutes, but it was cute.

Brooke's Birthday

Saturday was Scarlett's friend Brooke's 4th birthday, so we met them at the park for a little celebration. Her birthday party is still a few weeks away, but we wanted to do something fun with them to mark the actual day! We met at the park for a picnic and the kids rode the carousel. The weather was a little chilly, but it was a fun day. Scarlett hasn't stopped talking about how she rode a horsey and got a cupcake on an Ariel plate.

Scarlett and the birthday girl acting silly
When we got home Scarlett kept telling us how Brooke was wearing a really pretty dress. So of course she wanted to dress up too. I wasn't able to catch her in full regalia - the 2 purses, sleeping beauty shoes, multiple necklaces and bracelets, but here she is showing off her pretty dress and "tiara" (yes, headbands count as tiaras too).

"Mommy, I'm going on a trip".
"Oh really, Scarlett, where are you going?"
"I'm taking puppy to see his friends".
"Well ok then. Have fun!"

Good little mommy

Scarlett makes a good little mommy. She wants Belle to have a comfy place to relax and bathe and makes sure a good story is at hand to help her relax.
See, Belle, now aren't you so pretty now?

I asked if I could take her picture and Scarlett told me she needed "lips" first and to "look mirror". Gotta be primped and ready I guess.
I love this dress she has on today. It's new to us from Brooke. Thanks Stephanie for sharing with us!

The dress reminds me so much of this one:So cute and little!! And look how clean, fluffy and bright puppy was. Wow.

And for your Scarlett quote of the day:

In her room SUPPOSED to be taking a nap and I hear over the monitor -
"LYNDSEY! LYNDSEY! I need help!!" I go up to see what's wrong and walk in to find her sitting in her bed. "I'm stuck my own bed" she tells me. My reply? "Good, stay there, go to sleep."

Princess talk

Scarlett tells me in the car today - very sad voice - "mom, I'm not a real princess". "Why?" I ask. She proceeds to tell me in so many words that her dress does not have Ariel or Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty on it, which means she's not a princess today. I told her that she had on a beautiful pink dress with flowers and that made her very pretty like a princess. Not sure she bought it.

Last week we are in the Disney store, looking around and there's tons of princess dress up dresses. You know, the real fancy kind. Scarlett is ooohing and ahhing and gushing on and on about how this one is her favorite and that one is her favorite and OOH look at Cinderella's wedding dress. On our way out, she spots a rack of Tiana dresses. She asked if she could have it and I tell her "no, not today". She looks at me again and says "mommy, you make it for me?". Hahaha...so happy she thinks so highly of my sewing talents, but I'm not THAT good!

Random musings of Scarlett

Scarlett cracks me up with the stuff she says. Here's some of her latest:

She's obsessed with Lady Gaga. I mean OBSESSED. Every time we get in the car - "Lady GAGA Mommy". If I ask to listen to something else Scarlett replies with "POKER FACE!!!!!". We tried to sell her on Rhianna the other day - she wasn't having it. She often asks to wear a "beautiful dress." Lately it's been either her Belle dress or her Easter dress (which I'm trying to steer her away from for now). The minute she gets it on she says "Tiara" (really more "Tee-air") and then immediately wants to dance to Lady Gaga. It's the ultimate princess girly adventure, apparently.

She recently learned the word "favorite." She tells me that lots of stuff is her favorite. She was playing with princesses and she told me every one of them was her favorite. "Cindewella my favorite, and Jasmine my favorite..." Oh, and incase you were wondering, Plex is her favorite Gabba character.

Scarlett has become really interested in the airport ever since we picked up Grammie from there last week. After dropping her off to go home Scarlett told me she wanted to go to the airport and she was going to get in a plane there and fly through the air like a bird. Then yesterday she grabbed her princess suitcase, Dora bucket, Ariel purse, and of course puppy and kissed Cameron and I goodbye and said she was off to the airport to see Grammie. I hope this airport excitement lasts a few weeks until we hop on our plane to NYC!

Her newest excitement is to "help mommy". She loves to stand on a chair and help me make dinner. She takes the clothes from the washer and puts them in the dryer, she unloads the dishwasher. Of course she just dumps all the silverware into the drawer in a big pile, but it's so sweet and cute that I'll just fix it later!

That's all I can remember for now. I'll share more as they come to mind!

My Little Princess

So I whipped up this new little princess dress for Scarlett today. Beautiful princess tee from Grammy + $3 shirt from Wal Mart = Fancy new dress! It seriously took about 15 minutes and Scarlett was beyond thrilled. She said "mommy, make it?". I said "yes" and she said "oooh, thanks mommy!". It's a little long, so I'm hoping she can wear it ALL summer long and I'm loving the long look so she can't show the world her panties. Lets face it, 2 year olds are not modest in the least and even less so when they have Ariel panties to show off.

By the way, I've never been so happy for the humidity to return! Scarlett has ringlets again and her hair is somewhat under control! YAY!

Cupcake Dress

To go along with Scarlett's new theme of begging to wear only pink or princess dresses, I made her a new sun dress for when it FINALLY gets warm. She picked out this material herself and so far loves the dress!

Please disregard my poor child's post nap hair. She refuses to let me touch it to do ANYTHING. No ponytails, no pig tails, I'm lucky if I get a little clip in it to keep it out of her face. It's a constant battle!
