Scarlett's new favorite word...TEA!

My little southern belle and her love of sweet tea. Aside from milk and water, it's all she'll drink and man does she LOVE it. We went to lunch at Cane's today (local fried chicken strips and fries place with the best lemonade and sweet tea around). In the car on the drive over, Cameron asked Scarlett if she wanted to go get tea. Her face lit up and she talked about "tea" nonstop. Then we pull into the Cane's parking lot and she screams TEEEAAAA!!! She downed 2 glasses (luckily she hasn't caught on that I made it one part tea to about 10 parts water...I'm sneaky like that!).

Shopping

So I've been back for a day and have started a major shopping spree, apparently :) Scarlett and I met our friends Annie and baby Will at the mall today and I found crocs on clearance at the Disney store, so I had to pick up Scarlett a new pair. Her toes are almost at the end of the ones she has now and those have been the BEST shoes. I highly recommend these to anyone with a toddler - they are totally worth the money. I couldn't find ones exactly like the ones she has now, so we settled on the next best thing...Sleeping Beauty!

I returned home to do some online shopping with Cameron and we furthered the spending spree by ordering Scarlett a big girl bed! We've been planning to get her one for awhile now (ever since I caught her with one foot on the top rail ready to escape), but I wanted to hold off till after our trip to Atlanta. After much back and forth with Cameron - we settled on one we both liked and that matches the cherry wood furniture she has in her room now. We found it on Amazon - so with free 2 day shipping, it will be here early next week! I will definitely post pictures once we get it assembled and in her room!

Pee Pee in the Potty!!

Tonight I was getting Scarlett ready to get in the bathtub and sat her down on her little potty (we do this before bathtime, but not with any regularity) and said "ok, Scarlett go potty". Well, this is what I always say to her and nothing ever happens, so I just waited for her to stand up and walk over to climb in the bathtub. After she got out of the tub, I dried her off and turned around and happened to look down and saw she actually DID pee pee in the potty!!! I felt bad that I missed it at the time, but I looked down, then looked at her and she was grinning, then said "SCARLETT, did you pee pee in the potty?" She gave me the biggest smile....so proud of herself!! I'm fairly positive this was a fluke, but it won't be long before we're in Target actually purchasing those Little Mermaid panties that she's always pulling off the rack.

Trip home

Scarlett and I just returned from a whirlwind 8 day tour of Georgia! We drove in with the help of Jill last Tuesday, then returned yesterday with the help of my mom. Scarlett did so awesome on the drive. We had the dvd player with us, but surprisingly, Scarlett was able to entertain herself with toys and books (and Grandmommy and Gigi of course). We ended up watching only a couple hours of movies each way! With the exception of a throwing up incident on 75-85 in downtown Atlanta on the return trip, she was a perfect car-rider!

Our stay was full of running around, but tons of fun. We started the trip in Canton, spending the night with my dad and Jill. Wedensday took us down to Conyers for a stay with Cameron's parents. Scarlett discovered her inner musician on the grand piano and made great friends with the kitties (even learned to call for Cocoa and Sissy!).

Next up we headed to Alpharetta to my mom's house where Scarlett met her next best friend - my mom's dog Peaches. She's STILL talking about "P". My mom, Scarlett and I headed up to Gainesville to see Colin's new apartment and dog Zoe. We had lunch with Colin and his girlfriend, Melissa. They both have such cute houses and that dog is adorable! Scarlett loved playing fetch with Zoe...even though Scarlett's throwing abilities weren't much of a challenge for the poor puppy!

The next day was a trip up to Winder to see my grandparents and aunt uncle and cousins from Oregon (who I hadn't seen in 5 years!). It was great to see everyone and catch up. I was SO impressed with Scarlett for how easily she warmed up to everyone and ran around talking and playing. Holly came up to take some pictures of the family.

Here's almost the whole family (we're missing Cameron, Chloe and Ariel).
4 generations

I LOVE these pictures of Scarlett! Holly is so talented...she always gets the best pictures!!

After our stay in Winder I headed to Canton for a couple days to hang with my dad, Jill and Maddie. Luckily we had a relaxing weekend because by this time I was exhausted!! I did get to go to the new Super Target in Canton (biggest Target in Georgia!). That was pretty exciting since I LOVE Target. Scarlett got some super cute gladiator sandals. Love them!! Monday we had a nice cookout to celebrate Colin's birthday, then it was back to Alpharetta for the night to gear up for the drive on Tuesday.

Check out the shoes!
We spent a lot of time outside. Scarlett loves to run around!
I enjoyed seeing everyone so much and loved visiting, but man, I am so happy to be back in my own bed!! And even MORE happy to have Scarlett back in her own bed!

New Shoes (Again!!)

This girl's feet grow like nothing I've ever seen before!! We just bought her new shoes a few months ago and here she is already grown out of them! She's in a size 6 now. After cramming her toes down into her size 5's yesterday, I decided it was about time for us to make a trip to the shoe store. We went this morning and Scarlett found these "doda" (Dora) jellies. She made a bee line for them. I put them on her and she strutted around. I tried to take them off and try on a different pair and she screamed "no, no!". Well, I guess "doda" shoes it is! I guess she comes by it naturally...I had an affinity for "jewwies" when I was little too.

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a fantastic Mother's Day today!

Here's me and the baby girl

My weekend started off with a delivery of flowers from Scarlett. She quite talented at ordering and has amazing taste :o) This morning Cameron brought me a delicious breakfast of Starbucks and Krispy Kreme. Yum! He also traveled all over the city to find me my new favorite cup. It's reusable, but looks exactly like the plastic cups they do the iced drinks in. Amazing!
We met up with Tonya and Grayson for lunch (unfortunately Curtis was on call and got stuck at the hospital). We found a hibachi place and it was really good! It's been quite awhile since Cameron & I have had hibachi and it was Scarlett's first experience. She wasn't so impressed with the theatrics and lost it as soon as the fire came out. She had a death grip on my neck and wouldn't let go! Luckily soon after that they gave us some fried rice and she was more than happy to go back to her seat for a bowl full of fried rice and lo mein. She ate and ate and ate and was happy as a clam! Here's her and Grayson after dinner.
We had a fairly quiet afternoon playing here, then Scarlett crashed at 7 (she only had about a 20 minute nap today!).

Here's a few pictures I took of Scarlett playing this morning. Wanted to get some cute pictures in her princess dress.

I love this last one. I just adore her little curls around her face.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there!!

I have a parrot and her name is Scarlett

So I thought that Scarlett would NEVER start talking and all the sudden this week she has been picking up new words like crazy! Some of our new favorites:

Night night - she lays down her dolls and puppies and tells them niiiight niiiight. She also lays herself down on occasion and tells me night night - but only when she's playing. Real night night for her is still "bye bye"

Nose - she is all the sudden pointing out everyone (and everything's) nose

Elmo (Meh-mo) - We LOVE Elmo and point him out everywhere. We bought a Where's Elmo book (think Where's Waldo - replace Waldo with Elmo) today on our fun adventure to Walmart. So far the book is a big hit! And it saved me in the gigantically long checkout line at Walmart (have I ever mentioned that I HATE that store?).

Fish (FEEEEEE-sh) - I think this one came about while eating goldfish.

Speaking of FEEEEEsh, Scarlett was quite the little swimmer today. We went to Emily's to swim in the apartment complex pool and Scarlett just couldn't get enough! She jumped right in, was happy to have her floaties on and had a grand old time floating and splashing and getting on and off assorted rafts. Unfortunately I was in the pool with her during all this activity, so I didn't get any pictures. I'll have to try on one of our next pool jaunts (and there will be plenty since it's only the beginning of May and it's already nearing 90).

I think that's all the Scarlett related news we have here.

Cameron has 2 finals down, 1 to go and he's done with this year of med school (only to start back July 1). He made honors in his clinical pathology class. We're so proud :)

And because I don't dare make a post without pictures, here you go:

This one is from a week or so ago - Scarlett and Grayson about to set sail on Peter Pan's ship in Storyland.

And this one is from tonight. Scarlett has mastered the art of eating by herself, although it's not always neat and doesn't always involve utensils! Note how well she holds the fork in one hand while using her other hand to shovel in the food. I like to affectionatly call this look "pool head". Her hair has some curl to it, so it's hard to keep under control down here in the bayou!!
