Long Weekend

We have been keeping busy this long weekend (our last alone one!). Yesterday the girls and I went to the park for 2 hours where we played and I dazzled them with my flower jewelry skills.

Elle's favorite. She actually screamed at the baby that was in it when we got there. Like no one else is allowed to use that swing!

Scarlett calls this a carousel.

Flower tiara!

Flower necklace.

Today we met Tonya, Grayson and Chloe at the zoo. It was surprisingly not that crowded and we had a great time!

There were roaming tortoises.

All the kids

Ok you may have to zoom on this picture, but Elle was quacking at this giant ostrich and it was coming to talk to her. She could have touched it (luckily she's too scared for that).

Ending the day with a snowball.

I love this dress!

I love searsucker dresses. I put them on Scarlett all the time when she was 2&3. Elle does not share my adoration. So when I got this dress on her (by bribing her with a sucker) I knew I had to document the occasion.

She kept closing her eyes so I told her to keep them open! Then I got this smarty pants look:

I called her a silly monkey

Mother's Day Weekend

Cameron was in Charlotte this weekend, so it was just the girls and I for Mother's Day. We didn't really get out much (the weather was pretty bad), but the girls and Cameron still made it special!

The girls made me some cute flowers and cards at school. Cameron and the girls sent me a beautiful arrangement on Saturday and they let me open my gift first thing Sunday morning. They got me a Coach phone case/wallet so I can carry just the essentials when I'm out running around by myself.

Scarlett and Elle made my breakfast on Sunday. They worked together in the kitchen pulling out the bag of mini donuts and putting them on my flinches plate. It was very cute and they were very proud of themselves.

We had Panera and frozen yogurt for lunch. To further my Mother's Day joy, they BOTH took a good nap! I did kind of ensure that though by giving Scarlett some Benadryl (she touched something nut related in the yogurt shop apparently and came home with a couple hive spots on her face).

I started thinking of what we did last Mother's Day and remembered we brought home Abbie! Here she is with Elle (she definitely prefers Scarlett, but she is very good at tolerating Elle!)

2 year old pics

I can't wait to find a place to display these precious 2 year old pictures of my girls!

Spring 2013 Professional Pictures

We went to JC Penney for some updated family pictures and I got the CD today.  I love them!  Elle was SO into having her picture taken (so much better than the last time we got family pictures when she flipped and I have tear filled eye pictures of her!).  Here are some of my favorites:

Ready for Kindergarten!

Scarlett has come a long way this year with her reading and writing. She is definitely ready for kindergarten! And she won't hesitate to tell you either :)

Hard at work on her homework. Love the tongue of concentration.

Her alphabet

We even found her a new backpack last weekend.

Getting ready for Mother's Day

Scarlett and Elle started learning about Mother's Day at school yesterday and Scarlett came home SO excited about making me breakfast in bed.  She's plotting out how she's going to do it.  The plan is to feed me mini muffins because she's "not allowed to fool with the stove".  I told her maybe I would get some little donuts at the store.  Scarlett also requested that I get some small bottles of juice because she can't pour from the big bottles.  This morning on the way to school, Scarlett was going over her plan again and then Elle chimed in:
Elle:  "We gonna make mommy some food!"
Scarlett:  "Yes, mini muffins and some juice"
Elle:  "Mommy, I cook you muffins and mac and cheese!"
Scarlett:  "Elle!  Mac and cheese is NOT a breakfast food and besides, you can't fool with the stove!"
Elle:  "Ok, Mommy, me and Scarlett make you muffins and a salad"
Me: "Mmm...I love salad!"
Scarlett: "Elle!  Salad is NOT for breakfast!"
Elle:  "Mommy, I can make you a sandwich"
Scarlett: "Uhhh....SERIOUS girl?!?"

These two crack me up.  I can't wait to see how this plan unfolds on Sunday!

May Fair 2013

This past Saturday was the school's annual May Fair.  Scarlett had her on stage performance of Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid.  The kids did a really cute job.  She, as always, was thrilled to be able to get up on stage and perform for the crowd.  Elle was pretty into it too.  She was dancing along with the kids on stage.  She kept saying "Dat looks fun!  I wanna do dat!"  We promised her to chance to perform next year!  Before the performance we got a snoball and let the girls play a few carnival games then trade their tickets in for prizes (stuffed animals OF COURSE).

Getting ready before the show!

Blocks

So you know how kids will take 1 toy and that toy becomes their whole life and they don't want to play with anything else? Well, Elle is in that state with duplo blocks right now. She builds castles and laughs as they fall over.

"Look my castle! It's ENORMOUS!"

I tried blowing it down, she preferred to ROAR at it.

Laugh-screams as it topples over.

And repeat. 47 more times before nap :)
