My first softie

I made my first "softie" tonight from the book Colin gave me for Christmas. It's a mini cake complete with whipped topping. I made it for Scarlett to use as a part of her Disney Princess tea party that she's hosting daily now. I hope she enjoys it (and doesn't rip it to pieces since it took me 2 hours!)

More Christmas!

We didn't get a whole lot of pictures from our visit with dad, Jill and Colin this weekend, but here are a few cute ones!

Christmas 2008

We had a very nice Christmas here in Metairie this year. We definitely missed not being able to be in Georgia, but did have a good time setting up Santa and watching Scarlett get very excited about her presents this year! Here's a few pictures and a link to the full album.

Early Christmas Present to Colin - more Scarlett pics

With her "ppuhh" aka princesses.

More princesses
Carrying around princess presents (anyone see a theme here yet?). She will only touch the presents with princesses on them. Hasn't touched a single other one yet. In fact, she likes to make princess present piles by picking the princess presents out from between the other presents under our tree.

A couple decent Scarlett / Christmas tree pics

These were SO hard to get! As you can see, she only sat still after she wasn't able to hold any more ornaments so she had to sit down...

SNOW DAY in NOLA

There was a freak snow storm today that dumped giant snowflakes on us and ended up with almost an inch accumulated on our grass! And I thought I had left this all behind in Boston...

And the madness starts...

Hey mom, since it's snowing, let's watch Rudolph.
Venturing outside. Here's our snow covered roof.

Here's my "styling" child. Well, when you live in NOLA, you are not equip for snow, so you have to do the best you can :o)

Christmas Tree

So Scarlett has discovered the Christmas tree and all it has to offer. Ornaments and presents are her favorite things now. There are 2 ornaments in particular that she is ALWAYS carrying around with her - one with kittens and the Maine Santa Claus wearing a rain slicker. Who knows - I guess that's just what's within her reach!

Here she is getting into trouble!

Gee, this looks shiny and tasty...

And the next day - she's investigating presents. Guess the princess paper wasn't so smart after all...makes the packages irresistible!

Christmas is coming!

Scarlett is starting to get in the Christmas spirit! We haven't decorated the house yet (plan is for Sunday), but she's getting an early start by learning the ins and outs of the Advent house and dressing in her Rudolph best!
Opening every single door on the house!
Yum! She found a chocolate!

12 month checkup

Scarlett had her 12 month checkup today. She's 20 lbs 12 oz and 29 1/2 inches. She only gained 7 oz in the past 3 months and dropped to the 50th percentile - perfectly average! Since she's been walking and moving around, she's grown up, but not too much in weight. Poor baby got 4 shots - 1 in each leg and 1 in each arm. Ouch!! She didn't mind the legs much, but screamed at the arms. We've been home and playing all afternoon and she's been feeling pretty good. Next shots - 15 months...

Happy Birthday Scarlett!

Today is Scarlett's official first birthday! We had a great celebration this weekend with lots of family in town. Thanks everyone for making the trip, and thanks to everyone who sent her presents and birthday wishes from far away! Here's a few highlights of the day and below is the link to the full album of pictures.

Sweet baby indian

Scarlett celebrated her first Thanksgiving today...and did it in style!! Here's her as an Indian. She also chowed on some cajun turkey, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, a roll, and even had a bite of some pie for dessert! We had a great time and now I'm looking forward to some more fun with the big birthday party on Saturday!

Scarlett has a Christmas dress!

So my second major sewing project was to make Scarlett a dress...decided it should be a Christmas dress since it is almost December! This wasn't too bad and I would actually consider making another! I finished right in time for her to be decked out in her first visit to Santa (pictures to come soon!). Here's a couple pictures of it.

From the front (looking all dazed out because she's staring at her princess movie on the TV)

From the back (telling me, hey mom, why aren't these princesses on my tv?)
Posing with a few more birthday presents! Thanks Joe & Lindsey!!

Scarlett's first first birthday present! Thanks Uncle Randy & Aunt Jennifer!!

Scarlett got her very first first birthday present in the mail yesterday. We let her have it a little early and she LOVES it! Her very own bounce & spin pony! Thanks so much Randy & Jennifer!
