Scarlett quote of the day

I picked up Scarlett from school today and asked what they made at craft time.  She said they made a rocking horse, but he wasn't really "rockin" because he had no guitar.  Love her.

Peanuts are not our friend

We've always known that Scarlett and peanut butter did not get along.  Every time she's eaten it, she's thrown up.  I mentioned it to her pediatrician at her 4 year old checkup and she wanted her to get tested for an allergy.  I really thought (hoped) it would just turn out that she's 4 and dramatic and REALLY doesn't like peanut butter.  The scratch test showed, however, that she IS allergic.  The good news is that she did really well with the test.  She didn't fuss at all (thankful that wasn't too traumatic!).  The worst part was waiting 15 minutes while her arm itched her like crazy!  Now we just avoid all peanuts and hope that she grows out of it.  In the meantime, we have benadryl and an epi pen, just in case.  Luckily she doesn't have to give up peanut oil yet (which to us means Chickfila) because in the good oil, all peanut protein is removed.  We just watch that closely for any reaction.

She was rewarded for her efforts.  She's named this little guy "Little Pokey", just like the little pokey things that scratched her arm at the doctor.

Bye bye high chair

Elle graduated from a high chair to a booster yesterday.  She LOVES it!  Thinks she's SO big.  Scarlett says I should just sell the high chair in a yard sale (haha..yeah, they read a story at school about a yard sale, now Scarlett wants to sell everything!).

Yep, she HAD to change into snow white pajamas before dinner.  That bruise on the head is the aftermath of her throwing herself on the floor in a fit of rage that I didn't let her wear her sparkly princess shoes a few days ago.

Quack Quacks

Elle and I went for a walk in the park this morning.  While we were waiting on my friend to join us, I let her harass some birds.  There are plenty of chickens, roosters and ducks in this park - although to Elle, they were all "quack quacks".  She ran after those poor little birds screeching at the top of her lungs.  Don't worry, I didn't let her get TOO close.

Owen

Some of you may remember the baby shower I helped host in November (combo'd with my trip to Atlanta).  Well, the big day finally arrived and Owen is here!  I love him and I haven't even met him!  I can't wait for a return trip to Atlanta to meet him and hold him this summer.  Until then, I'll just have to keep looking at sweet pictures like this!  Congratulations to Sarah & Chris!  Owen is lucky to have such amazing parents!

Owen Palmer - born 1/18/12 at 6:04 pm.  7lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long.

Who dat?!?

One last chance to celebrate the Saints!  Scarlett's school had black and gold day on Thursday to celebrate a great season.  It was my one last chance to get a pic of these girls together in their matching who dat shirts.  They were thrilled (Scarlett because it was a Saints shirt, Elle because it was exactly what Scarlett was wearing).

Moo, Baa, La La La

Elle loves animals and one of her favorite books is Moo, Baa, La La La by Sandra Boynton.  This is just a clip from it.

Hannah Montana

Scarlett is so in to Hannah Montana right now.  That and all "rockin girls" really.  We've been listening to Miley Cyrus in the car on repeat.  She's always asking for "Hannah Montana number 1".  She gets shy towards the end, but she's got the beginning nailed!

Park Day

We have been waiting and waiting for the park next to the Baton Rouge apartment to open and it finally did last week!  It's such a cute little playground.  The girls loved playing there last weekend.  Hoping the weather stays pretty so we can play there a lot over the next month and a half!

Tea Party

Scarlett went to a tea party birthday party this morning and it was SO cute!! She even got to paint her fingernails for the first time. BIG deal!!

New Year's Eve

We ended 2011 by visiting the Baton Rouge Zoo.  It was technically our second visit, but the first to actually see the animals (the first was at Halloween where it was more about trick or treating!).

Posing with animals

This tiger was pacing right in front of the window.  The girls were THRILLED!  Especially Elle.  She got so excited and started shrieking every time the tiger walked up to her.  The girl LOVES animals!

Wild animals :o)

After the zoo, we had nachos for dinner (Scarlett declared it one of the best dinners ever).  The girls also had their pepperidge farm cake and Martinelli's (very fancy "happy new years" dessert).

We wish everyone a very happy 2012!

Baaaaa

Elle saw this little guy at Kohls today and practically dove out of the cart to get him. She calls him "Baa."
