Pigtails take 2
This time she asked for them. Begged for them. Sat perfectly still while I put them in. Then begged not to have to take them out at naptime. I think it has to do with the Cinderella ponytail holders.
SO excited
Had to tell her to smile with her eyes OPEN!

Back to the Zoo
It's officially spring and we are members of the zoo again, so we took advantage today and met some friends to see the animals. It was a little crazy there with all the field trips, but we wound our way through and had a nice time. For the first hour Scarlett asked for giraffes. Every animal we stopped at, she would look, say ok, uh huh, where are the giraffes? When we left she told me her favorite was the elephants though!
Finally...with the giraffes! There were 3 off in the distance. Scarlett decided it was a mommy daddy and a baby.

Easter in NYC
We had a great time in New York for Cameron's mini spring break! We left bright and early Friday morning (I was up at 3:15, Scarlett up at 4 and we were on the plane on our way at 6). Scarlett was a flying champ this time thanks to her i touch and Dora. Gotta love Dora. Here's a quick little recap of the weekend
Day 1 - Friday
We got in and were at our hotel (Waldorf Astoria) by 11am. We grabbed a quick lunch at Chipotle (yes, sadly we have none such here in NOLA) and were on our way for some shopping. We hit FAO Schwartz first and Scarlett had a ball. We spend an hour and a half exploring almost every part of the store. Scarlett sure racked up there too. She got a dress up costume, a dalmatian family and a Hello Kitty tshirt. Oh, and a gigantic sucker. After that we headed to the American Girl store which was crazy insane! We couldn't hardly move in there, so we quickly headed up to the third floor to the Bitty Baby wing to check it out. Scarlett ended up getting what we like to call a Bitty toddler. We decided Bitty Baby needed a big sister. After a little more window shopping we headed back to the hotel to check in and rest for a few minutes (might I remind you I was up at 3am??). We headed out for an easy dinner at a nearby pizza place.

She couldn't get enough of her new dress!
Day 2 - Saturday
We got up and got ready and headed across the street to Starbucks for breakfast, then hopped on the subway and headed to Soho. We did lots of wandering around down there and stopped in several shops. We probably spent the most time in the Scholastic book store buying more stuff for Scarlett and several books for baby sister too. We ate a good lunch at a little local place, then hopped on the subway again to go to Magnolia for some cupcakes. Scarlett actually fell asleep in the stroller (the only nap of the weekend) so she was out for the whole time in line. She woke up in time to get back on the subway and head back to the hotel. We grabbed a starbucks drink and then headed up to the room to enjoy a cupcake. Cameron and I enjoyed ours, but Scarlett just stared and hers. Looked at it, turned it around, pulled out the bunny decoration. Never would eat it. Silly girl. We had planned on doing an easy dinner at a local sandwich place, but ended up having the hardest time finding somewhere that was open at 6pm! I think a lot of stuff around us was closed early since it was the day before Easter. We ended up eating Subway for dinner after passing a million closed signs!
Ready to head out on the subway (ps, love my new slim and sleek Maclaren!)

And that look sums up what she thought of those Magnolia cupcakes!
Day 3 - Sunday
We woke up to the Easter bunny! He found us in New York and left Scarlett a basket of treats and also hid some eggs complete with M&M's. Scarlett was thrilled with her gifts and had a ball grabbing up all the eggs. She was even more thrilled to discover they were complete with candy. After that we headed for our Starbucks breakfast and then on the subway again to head uptown to the Museum of Natural History. We took a walk through Central park to get to the museum. It was a beautiful day, so a very nice walk. We spent a good long time in the museum. First we went through the butterfly exhibit. There were tons of live butterflies flying all around and Scarlett was thrilled. She kept searching for a pink one like on her dress. We took a walk through the North American mammals. Scarlett was running from one animal to the next, so excited. Next we went through the lizards and snakes exhibit. Scarlett and Cameron thought it was pretty cool...the snakes freaked me out though. No worries though, Scarlett told me she would protect me. After that we grabbed a quick snack, then headed up to the top floor to see the dinosaurs. We had been talking about the dinosaurs for a long time so Scarlett was excited to finally see them. After such a long morning, Scarlett started to get uncooperative, so we decided to leave the museum and head over to lunch. We ate at a nice restaurant right across from the museum. The food was good, but Scarlett was not so good. We headed back to the hotel after that for a quick rest. We headed out to Five Guys for dinner. Scarlett was back to her sweet self by then and went crazy on her burger and fries. Eating there reminded me I'm disappointed that we don't have Five Guys in New Orleans!!
Easter bunny goodies! She got a bunch of new books, the new Barbie movie and a dress and shoes

Day 4 - Monday
Vacation was over and it was time to head home. It was a full day of travel. We got up and packed up, grabbed breakfast and before we knew it it was time to hop in the car to the airport. We got there pretty early, so there was time for more shopping (haha...for Scarlett of course). I bought her and baby sister matching I heart NY shirts.

At the grocery store
A little exchange at the grocery store...
We are at the checkout line and the checkout lady says to Scarlett "Hi cutie, how are you?"
Scarlett : "Look at my pretty dress!"
Checkout lady: "Why yes, it is beautiful. How old are you?"
Scarlett: "I two" (holding up her hand in a crazy disfigured position trying to show her two fingers, but not very successfully)
Checkout lady: "Well, you are a BIG girl!"
Scarlett: "Yes. I wear panties."

Easter Egg Hunt
We had a MOMS club Easter egg hunt this morning. All the kids were adorable...it was 2 and under so I had one of the biggest kids there! Scarlett caught on immediately to the whole egg thing and while the one year olds were strolling around Scarlett took advantage of the situation and packed her basket full. Once she figured out there were treats in the eggs, she stopped collecting and sat down and ate and ate her treats. The host Joy was super smart and stuffed them with goldfish, teddy grahams and fruit loops. There were a select few with candy in them.

After the egg hunt the kids retired to the playroom.
This one might be my favorite picture!!

How cute is THIS?
Onesie to dress in about 30 minutes. And it would have been faster if I hadn't gotten all fancy with the different colored trim and rick rack!

In love with it!! I will definitely be doing more of these for baby sister. How easy and comfy and not to mention CUTE!! Oh, and $4 for the onesie at Target and free fabric scraps from my leftovers drawer...cheap!!
Here's the tutorial if you want to give it a try too!

Storyland - take one million
So we went to Storyland again today. Scarlett loves it. She gets very excited and talks about "Storytime". Tonight I asked her what she saw today and she said "Gators, boat, big truck, Belle Beast song..." As always she was also quite taken with Snow White. She kept kneeling beside her talking about how she ate the apple and went to sleep.
Here's a few pictures from today

Squinty smile on her favorite lamb that she always has to ride
I thought this face was hilarious. This is the look she was giving all the boys in the park today. There was a PreK 4 class there on a field trip and she was NOT a fan of those big boys taking up spots in all her favorite attractions. She kept walking away from stuff and telling me "there's BOYS there".

Driving the firetruck. She thought this was AWESOME.
Back at home. She actually asked me for the ponytail after I put Ariel barbie's hair in a pony tail. It lasted all of 20 minutes, but it was cute.
