Charleston

We drove into Charleston on Easter and stayed for the week. The weather wasn't the best (a bit chilly and rained all day on our last day), but we still enjoyed ourselves!

We originally planned to stay downtown, but after lots of recommendations by Cameron's coworkers, we instead decided to stay at Wild Dunes, a resort on the beach just north of Charleston.

Monday we went downtown and walked through the market, by the waterfront, rainbow row and much of the French Quarter. We had lunch at Poogan's Porch which was amazing! The fried chicken biscuits were delicious!

Tuesday we went to see the "big boats" at Patriot's Point.

The U.S.S. Yorktown

Inside the submarine (not my favorite!)

Wednesday morning we toured Boone Hall Plantation. The girls were very good for he house tour, but once we made it to the last room (the original man cave), Elle decided she was "scared of dis house. I want to go to our new house".

Scarlett posed with the cotton field. Elle refused because she said that cotton was going to get her.

We enjoyed homemade ice cream at the end of the tour.

Our plan was to spend the afternoon on the beach at our hotel. We ate lunch on the pier, then made our way onto the beach to p,at in the sand. It was SO cold & windy that we didn't last long! The girls were so happy to play though!

Thursday was very rainy & cool, so we drove back downtown. We did a little shopping then stopped for lunch and a treat. Scarlett wasn't feeling well (sinus infection), so we headed back to the hotel early. We ate dinner at our resort, then headed back to Charlotte Friday morning.

Easter Morning

The bunny was very good to the girls this year! They got several newly released Disney movies, candy, princess dresses and ribbon dancers. That bunny may or may not have inadvertently gone overboard ;). The girls of course were thrilled. After bunny treats, we went out for a nice brunch, then hit the road (again) for Charleston!

All dressed up!

Ikea

One of our first outings in Charlotte was to Ikea. It was a first for us all & it's an interesting experience. That place is huge! Lots of cool stuff for cheap. We were especially enthralled with the kids section. So many cute things! We even ate lunch (the famous meatballs!) in their food court.

I think the girls were thrilled with our finds!

Dying Eggs

Once we made it to Charlotte we had to dye our eggs! Scarlett was very into the decoration, dying and putting on stickers. Elle was just concerned with when she could eat one!

Good Friday in Atlanta

After a very LONG drive on Thursday afternoon, we woke up in Atlanta. We had a few hours to visit before we headed up to Charlotte. The girls hunted eggs (some filled with change which was a BIG hit).

Elle was counting her "monies"
It was a fun very short visit!

Field Day & Easter Parties

It's been a very busy Easter for us! We started off the holiday on Holy Thursday with the girls Easter celebrations at school. It was also field day for Scarlett. It was freezing outside, but we still had a great time! Luckily Grammie was in town to help me juggle the 2 classes.

Scarlett's class spent the morning doing field day activities. They had a "race to the beach" which was SO TOTALLY EMBARRASING for the girls. Seriously, they all were mortified to be silly. Look at her face!

Scarlett's favorite was the limbo!

As field day was finishing up, I went to Elle's class for their party & egg hunt. Scarlett had snack & an egg hunt while I was gone.

Elle' class sang a few songs for us. She's between her buddies Lucy & Audrey.

They played a few games including pin the tail on the bunny.
Getting ready to hunt eggs! Elle grabbed eggs like crazy. I had to reign her in so she left some for the other kids! It was so funny because a couple kids kept spilling their eggs and as soon as those eggs hit the ground they were surrounded by little vultures ready to snatch up those eggs!

We left right after the parties & got on the road for Atlanta!
