Author

Scarlett has been doing a lot of writing lately.  Seems all she wants to do is sit down and write sentences.  Her latest was a story about a bat.  After writing it she said she might want to be an author when she grows up.  I think she's off to a great start!

That's a picture of her bat in a pumpkin dress and that's a tree with fall colored leaves.

Long hair!

I made my second attempt at straightening Elle's hair this morning.  I was surprised at how long it is!  She kept marveling at her LONG hair!

Of course it was not meant to be.  We stepped foot outside for a few minutes and the curls returned :o)

My sweet girls

I love this "first day of fall" picture I took of the girls last weekend.  It got down to a brisk 85 degrees, so we pulled out the long sleeves.  It didn't last though, we were melting in the 90's all week.

Call me crazy

So I've been trying to do more homemade and less pre packaged food lately. Well that's a slippery slope because once you stop buying chicken nuggets, you start to wonder what else you can make from scratch. Enter my best friend Pinterest. I kept seeing recipes for taco seasoning. We like tacos a lot so I was buying a lot of taco seasoning packets. Those things are expensive! And the Internet tells me they are filled with bad stuff. So might as well give it a shot, right? I've used it twice now and the taste is great. And it's far less salty tasting than the packets. So what's my next logical step? Lets find a homemade ranch packet! Those things REALLY aren't cheap! I've tried this recipe out a few times now. First tossed with olive oil & red potatoes, next in my ranch chicken nuggets & tonight in our crockpot ranch pork chops. So far I'm loving it! I haven't tried it as a dip yet...that will probably be next! So far my wallet is loving it too since I keep all these spices on hand at home.

Just in case you were wondering how I might have gotten so crazy...check out these monkeys Iive with!

    2 Tbsp Dried Parsley

Black and Gold

Football season is upon us and Scarlett is ready to cheer on the Saints!  Elle reluctantly agreed to match sissy, but only for my picture :o)

Feeling Fancy

Elle wanted a long dress this morning so we pulled this one out. I love it and I've been waiting a long time for it to fit! I had to snap a few pictures!

Schoolwork

The girls have had a great start to the year with their school work (health-wise, not so much, but that's a different story). Elle is learning about family this week and she brought home this today. Love her!

Scarlett has hit the ground running in kindergarten. They have weekly tests in spelling and sight words. She has a reading comprehension test and her first math test tomorrow. She has homework every night including studying for her tests, reading 10 minutes and usually a worksheet too. So far she's doing great! She got 100 on both her first tests last week.

I love these little stories too!
