We had a great time in Disney World last week!
We did the drive in 1 day this time and the girls did really well. It took us about 11 hours with stops. They were super excited to finally get to the hotel. We stayed on International Drive this year (off Disney property). Scarlett was very impressed with our hotel. We walked in and she said "This place has clocks?!? WHAT?!?" Haha...guess it doesn't get much better in a 4 year old's eyes! We enjoyed staying off property because there were some fantastic restaurants right around us that we were able to enjoy for dinner each night (Tommy Bahama & Copper Canyon were fantastic & we had flashbacks to our Boston days with Uno).
Tuesday was our first day in the parks and we did Magic Kingdom first. We got there for the opening and were able to get lots of rides done in the first few hours. The crowds weren't too bad in the morning. Elle learned to say "ride" real quick. They loved it! One of their favorites was It's a Small World. We also did Cinderella's Carousel, Snow White, Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room, Aladdin's Magic Carpets, and the Haunted Mansion.
Wednesday was our longest day. We spent 9 hours in Epcot!
First up was the Character Spot where we were able to meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy in record time.
After that we rode a few rides including Nemo, then headed off to our Princess lunch in Norway. The girls got to meet Belle, Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. We enjoyed our lunch while each princess made their way to our table for pictures and autographs. Elle wasn't too big of a fan of Mickey & Minnie (I think the costumes scared her once she was up close), but she did LOVE the princesses! She giggled and got all excited every time they came by. And of course Scarlett loved them too!
After lunch we took a walk through the countries and happened upon a few characters. First we saw Mulan, but her line was already closed, so we kept going. We got to France and saw Marie (the kitty from Aristocats)and in Britain we saw Alice. While in line for Alice, we heard rumor that Rapunzel was around. She's normally only in the Magic Kingdom (and has a HUGE line), so we were thrilled to walk straight over the bridge and only have to wait a few minutes to see her. The girls were so excited!! They were giggly and Scarlett was jumping up and down!
By this time, we were only minutes away from Mulan's line opening back up so we ran (literally) all the way back through all the countries to get back to China. We barely made it (the line was cut off with the girl behind us) and had to stand in line for 45 minutes, but we got to meet Mulan! Luckily Elle took a nap on the way.
After a snack and a little shopping where the girls both picked out their "pets" (Scarlett a Duffy bear and Elle got Marie from Aristocats), we called it a day.
Thursday we went to Hollywood Studios. We did the Ariel show, which the girls loved! It's a live Ariel and puppets for Sebastian, Flounder, etc. In the beginning and end it "rains" in the theater. After that we went to a Disney Junior show with all the characters they watch on their morning cartoons. We were able to ride the Toy Story ride and Scarlett and Cameron rode the Star Wars ride (which Scarlett thought was super cool). We saw the Belle show too, which was a live show with several of the songs from the movie.
We left shortly after lunch and went back to the hotel where the girls got a very short nap (not because we didn't allow enough time, but because Elle kept standing in her bed yelling "ha HA ha" at Scarlett (that's what she calls her)). Shortly after having to separate them to get them to sleep, we woke them back up and went to Downtown Disney to the Bippity Boppity Boutique. We let Scarlett choose any hairstyle she wanted and wouldn't you know, she picked the pink long hair :o) The whole process was so cute and Scarlett was so impressed with the final look.
Friday was our last day and we went back to the Magic Kingdom. First we rode Peter Pan (the line was too long on Tuesday), then did Winnie the Pooh, then headed to Tomorrowland where we all were able to ride the cars (we were surprised that Elle met the height requirement!). Scarlett and Cameron went on Stitch's Escape while Elle and I rode the Peoplemover. Then we all rode the Toy Story ride and were able to meet Buzz after! We had lunch, then saw the Mickey show in front of the castle. Scarlett absolutely loved the show and remembered it from last year. Even Elle was naming the princesses she saw on stage (Snow White and A-da-da (Aurora)).
After one final Mickey ice cream treat and finding new Disney shirts for the girls, we headed back to the hotel to pack up for the long drive home. The drive was exactly what we expected...LONG! It's less fun to head back home than to head to Disney! We're looking forward to our next visit (hopefully not too long away!)
