Graduation Vacation Part 2

The second half of our trip took us up to Boston.  Scarlett was excited to see her birthplace and we enjoyed hitting the highlights of the city again (and remembering why we don't want to live there!).

We checked into the Boston Harbor Hotel and enjoyed our great view!

After we got settled, we went walking around the waterfront and headed to Faneuil Hall for dinner.  Elle put on a brave face here, but she was scared to death of the "yucky water".  She insisted on walking as far away from the water as possible!

Checking out the shops in Faneuil Hall - Elle insisted "we need dis because we don't have him"

Dinner at Cheers!

Scarlett was trying to show Elle that there was nothing to be afraid of!

The next morning we headed up to Cambridge and walked through Harvard Square.  The girls weren't super impressed, but we enjoyed a walk down memory lane seeing the dorms where we used to hang out with friends!

Lunch at Mr. Bartley's

We stopped in the North End on the way back.  We walked around, toured the Old North Church, Paul Revere's house and of course picked up some Regina's Pizza and Mike's Pastries.

Scarlett was so impressed with the old North Church.  She loved hearing the history of the box pews.

Our next day took us to Boston Common, Back Bay and on a duck tour!

The old work place :o)

The girls really enjoyed the duck tour.  They even got to drive the boat!

We had dinner in Fenway and had to stop by our old apartment. Here's where we brought Scarlett home!

The next morning we headed back to Fenway for a tour of the stadium.

We left Fenway and headed to Longwood to see our first apartment.

We stopped by Scarlett's birthplace

We went by the Medical and Dental schools.  One of Cameron's classmates is still working in the area, so she was able to give us a tour of the dental school.

After a little rest, we headed back to Fenway for a night at the ballpark!  We took the girls to their first baseball game - Red Sox vs. Cubs.

They were mostly interested in the snacks :o)

The night ended up pretty eventful as we got a gameball!

That ended a fun and exhausting 8 days!

Graduation Vacation Part 1 - NYC

We decided to go to NYC and Boston on our graduation celebration vacation.  First up, NYC.

On Monday, we flew out of NOLA and landed in New York a few hours later.  After a LONG cab ride in traffic, we made it into the city and checked into the Waldorf.  Our view was awesome!

After getting settled in, we walked around and found a burger place for dinner.  Look at those two cuties sharing a shake!

Finally, to round out our first day, we had to go buy Isabelle, the American Girl girl of the year that Scarlett had been talking about for months!  When we moved, we counted up all her piggy bank savings and she cashed in for over $100!  Isabelle was her choice of what to spend that money on.

On Tuesday we started the day by going to the top of the Empire State Building.

We walked almost everywhere, so on our walk back, we stopped in the New York Public Library.

Next up was lunch at American Girl.  They girls couldn't stop gushing over how beautiful everthing was (so much pink! so many flowers!).

Elle borrowed a doll for the lunch.  She wasn't too interested in getting one of her own.  She opted instead for more pets.

After lunch we headed up a few blocks to FAO Schwartz.  Elle picked out a pink dog and made a kitty in the Build a Bear.  She considered this wonderful array of dress up dresses to (but ultimately decided on more stuffed animals).

After FAO, we headed down to Rockafeller Center and Times Square (crazy!).  We ducked into the Disney store in Times Square, and surveyed the general atmosphere, but didn't last long in the crowds.

On the walk back, we stopped into Grand Central Station for dinner at Junior's...

And treats from Magnolia.

On Wednesday we took the Subway to the Upper West Side where we got breakfast at Good Enough to Eat (awesome orange butter and strawberry butter!) and visited the Museum of Natural History.  The girls loved the dinosaurs and enjoyed their first show in a Planetarium.

We stopped off at an Italian restaurant for some late lunch...

Then grabbed Starbucks for a walk through Central Park.

On Thursday we headed down to the Statue of Liberty.  Scarlett was really in awe.  Elle was scared to death that she might fall in the "yucky water", so spent most of the time freaking out or being carried.

After the Statue of Liberty, we walked around Wall Street, had lunch at the Southstreet Seaport, and walked by the 9/11 memorial before heading back to the hotel.  We had dinner at a steakhouse near our hotel (Scarlett insisted on STEAK!).

Friday was another travel day for us, so we hit Sarabeth's on Central Park for brunch (complete with fancy pink juice), then headed to the airport to catch our flight to Boston.

Cameron's Graduation

The beginning of June was a whirlwind of getting moved and trying to settle in (no thanks to Mayflower and their horrific moving services), but after a quick few weeks, we were back in New Orleans to truly say goodbye and celebrate Cameron's graduation from residency.

6 years of hard work all leading up to this day!

We spent the weekend playing; squeezing in as much NOLA fun as we could!
