Happy Halloween!

Last night we kicked off the Halloween weekend by carving our pumpkin. Scarlett picked out a ghost, so that's what we made! Scarlett was a little hesitant with the icky insides at first, but then she was a good helper! She never would stick her hand down in the pumpkin though.

Tonight we went to trunk or treat at a local school. It was really cute, although not a big event. There were only about 7 cars there, so it was a disappointment to the bigger kids, but perfect for Scarlett! She thought it was great. She did a great job walking up, saying "treeeeat" and "thank you". She was thrilled with the adults in "scary" masks and we even saw a few "scary men" (Spiderman).

Halloween Festivities Begin!

Scarlett and I went to the mall today with our friends for Halloween song time at Pottery Barn (yeah, they were LESS than interested, but Brooke and Scarlett had a great time with the doll houses, baby strollers and play kitchens they have out) and then to see the pumpkin man and ride the Scary Train. Scarlett got on the train and LOVED it! She was sitting with Brooke, which I guess helped (since the last time was a screaming disaster). They rode it twice and I had to pry Scarlett off of it kicking and screaming. She then went up to the Pumpkin Man and was SO excited. Now, this is a girl in overalls and a flannel shirt and a GIGANTIC pumpkin head. Scarlett was giving her hugs and high fives and talking to her. So excited! The lady took some super cute pictures, but they wanted $20 for the smallest package...so not happening! The photographer was super sweet though and printed me out a picture of just Scarlett for free and told me to come back at Christmas. I'll have to scan it later and upload it too. It's adorable!

Here's the girls getting ready to go on the train!

Pumpkin Painting, Freezer Paper Stencils and Cooking!

We've been busy with crafting this week (not that it's that much different than any OTHER week). Here's what we did this week!

I discovered the art of freezer paper stenciling, which was really easy and Scarlett's shirt turned out super cute!! The hardest part of it all was just sitting there to exacto-knife out my design in the freezer paper. Haha...of course I picked a hard one to start! Here's the finished product!

Want to try one yourself? Here's the tutorial I used:

Scarlett has been busy "cooking" this week.
She's keeping pots and pans at her princess table to "fix dinner" while I do. It's usually pouring water between bowls, but this morning she decided to "fix" her fruit that I cut up for her for breakfast.

Yesterday we went to a pumpkin painting party with the Moms Club. Scarlett had a blast painting her pumpkin. Such a masterpiece :)

Here she is painting with her friend Daphne. Of course I did bring my camera (even went back by here to get it), then left it in the car. Sorry for the poor quality - the iphone can only do so much!

Here she is showing it off
And now she's "cooking" it. A little bit of juice...And it's ready to eat!

Obsessed?

Cameron sure thinks I am. I just think I'm trying to make a complete kitchen full of food for a sweet baby girl :o) Here's all the felt food I have so far to go with Scarlett's play kitchen from Santa. I have a few more things in mind to make, but I think I'm about done and ready to move on to the kid sized apron and embellished tea towels!

A close up of a few of my favorites - strawberry, kiwi and a poptart!

Costume Number 2

Scarlett will be both a kitty AND Belle this Halloween! Luckily we have 2 big events coming up, so she'll get lots of time in both costumes. This weekend we are going to Park-a-boo at Lafreniere Park. It's a Halloween event for kids with games, trick or treating, and of course costumes! And then we'll be doing Trunk or Treat on Halloween at a local school. I'm excited about it...think it's going to be much more fun AND practical with a one year old!

Here's Scarlett debuting her kitty costume. And don't worry...she'll wear black tights with it. The pink were just what she had on today and I don't change her tights unless I absolutely have to!

Montz Pumpkin Farm

Today Cameron, Scarlett and I went to the Montz Pumpkin farm for some fall fun. We rode the tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch, each picked a pumpkin and came back to the farm to wash them off. Here are our beautiful pumpkins!Scarlett on the tractor. Which she didn't love. When we got back on it, she kept saying "no boat mommy, no boat". I said "Scarlett, it's not a boat, it's a tractor". Scarlett - "Tractor. Mommy, no tractor".

Here we are out at the pumpkin patch.

It was a fun fall day! And finally some fall weather too! Although it's been high 60's here, at the pumpkin patch in the sun it was definitely warmer.

Storytime Elephant

Scarlett and I met friends at Barnes and Noble today for their weekly storytime and much to our surprise there was a "special guest" after the story. Even MORE surprising was the fact that Scarlett LOVED him! She kept going up to him, giving him high fives, holding his trunk and talking to him. Most of the other kids there were too scared to get too close, but Scarlett was his best friend. She was sad when he left...kept yelling "BYE ELEPHANT, BYE!!". Wish I had my real camera with me, but I got a couple quick shots with my phone.
